Seeking some advice! I am working to prep a car for HPDE and lapping day duty and the interior carpet is pretty crummy. As such I am yanking it out. With twenty year old factory metal exposed I want to treat some light surface corrosion and respray the cabin. Any recommendation on what type of spray paint to use? Do I need to prime/paint/ seal or I can I get away with an all-in-one solution?
Hoping for this type of look

I’d say wire brush any surface rust, clean th
ings up well (be sure to degrease since who knows what’s on the metal u
nder the old carpet) and some rattle can rustoleum should do you well. I’m partial to their “professional” series in the taller silver cans, dries quick.

Maybe a quick wire brush of any corrosion spots, but otherwise just wipe it down with acetone and sp ra y. Rustolu em machine gray (or whatever other color strikes your fancy) is pretty much the default interior paint of the SCCA club racing world when it isn’t sprayed as part of an exterior respray.
